NEWS AND EVENTS

Educational Programs:

Marie-Christine Giordano Dance (MCGD) outreach dance program for the children of P.S. 24 in Sunset Park, Brooklyn has been running for two years now and is going strong. We mentor about 60/70 children every week. Their enthusiasm and joy are truly heartwarming and make all of our efforts worthwhile! We also hold one very low-cost weekly class at the MCGD’s Studio for our neighborhood children.

MCGD is proud and eager to be involved in important community outreach activities such as these. If you are interested in a partnership with MCGD to develop similar programs, please contact us at:info@mcgiordanodance.org

Organizational Notes:

Board of Directors:

We are very happy to welcome Ms. Yadira Garcia as a new Board of Director member. Ms. Garcia is the Director of the PAZ (Peace from A-Z) Afterschool Program, a program created and led by Morningside Center for Teaching Social Responsibility and partnered with P.S. 24. Her current focus is to provide a wide range of enriching activities for youth in Sunset Park, Brooklyn which will empower students through artistic expression, academics and community engagement. Ms. Garcia is from Moses Lake, Washington and holds a BA in International Studies from Seattle University and a MA in Education Policy Studies.

Staff:

Let's welcome yet another new member to our family! MCDG is in the process of sponsoring Eleonore Dyl, a Swiss citizen, to work in New York and develop, on behalf of the company, a theater/movement program for children as well as, at times, collaborate in staging the company’s creations.

A class demo:

Michael Frenchman, founder and director of VIDEOGRAF is working with Ms. Giordano at putting together a short video demo of her teaching method and unique style. It will be posted on this site by early Spring. Mr. Frenchman has been involved for quite some time with the MCGD and in the past has produced some amazing images of the company’s performances.

Any amount counts and will make a difference!

Thank you!
